Intentionally Uniformative Error Messages
I've sometimes noticed misleading error messages on websites, when clearly they could have been correct and indicated steps to correct the form submission.
- Yelp Developer does not allow non-US developers (estimated using IP location, breakable) to create an account. It's not officially spelt out, but it appears so.
They throw a general 'Oops, Yelp is overworked right now' error.
- Facebook allows you to enter any birth date, but when it is too young, even less than thirteen years.
When you submit the form, they give a general 'Sorry, we are not able to process your registration.' error.
